July of each year is recognized as National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM). By virtue of Executive Order No. 29 s. 2017, various activities relative to the building of disaster resilience covering the four thematic areas of DRRM namely; disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery and rehabilitation are observed throughout the Philippines.
This year’s NDRM observance bears the theme, “Tamang Pamamahala’t Kahandaan, Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan sa Sakuna at Pandemya’y Kalasag ng Bayan”, emphasizing the important role of disaster risk governance and the collaboration of different stakeholders in overcoming the challenges brought by the pandemic and to build a green and resilient normal.
Throughout the month, campaigns will be held to strengthen public participation and further increase the general public’s awareness of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).
